My name is Karen Serna, I am 28 years old, and I live in Medellin Colombia, "The city of eternal spring" We call it like that because every day of the year there are flowers everywhere you look. I really like interacting with children and I want to live the experience with a family that allows me to be their support in their children's daily activities.

Regarding my experience, I can tell you that I took care of my best friend's daughters for three months when they were 4 months old (they are twins), my responsibilities were to feed them, change their diapers, bathe them, nap time, and play with them. I also volunteered in a daycare called Pequeños Constructores, for two months with children between 1 and 5 years old; where I did recreational activities with them, we drew, painted and I helped them to take a nap. I was also an Au pair in the United States for a year, taking care of two wonderful girls of 1 and 4 years old, with my host parents we are still in contact by WhatsApp; they send me pictures, videos and sometimes we make video calls and the girls remember me with love, they called me Nanie, the youngest girl I taught her to go to the potty for the first time, it was a process of patience but we did it, I also taught them some words in Spanish and we enjoyed the time a lot. Some of my responsibilities were to prepare breakfast, change diapers, dress them, laundry, nap time and make sure they were safe.

I also took care of my nephew since he was born and nowadays, I still take care of him in the afternoons, I help him with his homework, improve his reading, also we play soccer and I give him snacks.

As I consider myself as a creative person, I like to explore the world of crafts, so in my free time I like to sew, from pants to skirts and even cushions for the bed, I also like to crochet, so I make little stuffed animals such as bears, turtles, bunnies and more. I am always thinking about creating or modifying things. On the other hand, I also like to spend time with my family, cook or go to the movies.
