Dear Host Family and Host Kids,
Good day to you. I am Candy B. Delos Santos, but most people call me ken. I am the only girl in my family. I have two brothers, one older and one younger, and I'm very close with the both of them. My mom works abroad and my dad is a tennis instructor. Our Grandmother lives with us too and I learned my cooking techniques from her. Most of my free time are spend in reading books, my favorite author is Jude Deveraux and I'm proud to say I'm about to complete my collection of her published books. Sometimes I write my own fiction type of stories when I'm inspired. When I see sceneries or objects that catches my attention, I tend to draw or sketch it. Most of the time I organized things in our house like my drawer, the kitchen, displays or anything that is scattered around because I like things to be organized as much as possible. One of my favorite hobbies is learning, mostly on YouTube, new techniques in cooking and baking. If my grandmother needs help with gardening I give her a helping hand sometimes. Then when my nephews come to play in our house I love telling them stories from children books that I have and eventually give it to them as a gift. I like searching easy to make snacks for them to enjoy when they come over like banana bread, cookies or brownies. DIY videos also makes me have creativity when I'm into art stuffs. I'm also proud to say that I am a huge animal lover and I fostered abandoned pets mostly cats. Most of all I love experiencing new things and challenging myself out of my comfort zone.
What I can say about myself is that once I set my eyes on something I want to do I tend to be very passionate about it. I'll do everything within my capacity to reach my goal. I can easily adopt and adjust in new environments. I'm very flexible on the task on hand and responsibilities that are given to me. Also I am a huge animal lover my favorite are cats and dogs. I do love playing with different types of children because then I can challenge myself to learn on how to communicate with them on their own level of perception as a kid or teenager. I'm the adventurous type but most of the time I am also a serene type of person. I try to go to places that has beautiful sceneries and then enjoy the breathtaking views to my heart's content. Most people that truly knows me says that I act more mature than my age but sometimes I tend to be childish when I'm being playful to them. I can say I am friendly and likes meeting new people. I'm also the nerdy type because I love studying new thing like language, culture and heritage. I do sports when I have the time, I play tennis, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, swimming and badminton which I can teach or play with your kids in the future. I also have a sweet tooth and loves pastries. When I was still studying my favorite subject was mathematics, physical education, and home economics that's why most of my work experience is in the hospitality industry. I worked as a cashier and waitress in different restaurants. I also had a part time job taking care of kids that was signed up to have tennis club clinic and I helped teaching them the basics. My friends consider me honest and sometimes tease me of being too kind for my own good. I tend to be creative due to my artistic characteristic. I'm a team player and leader at times when needed. Me Being the only daughter, when my mom left to work abroad I became the mother figure to my brothers, I did all the household chores, cooking and looking after them since I was a teenager. Then I learned to be the mediator in my family so when a crisis arise I tend to stabilize the tension within. And thus due to my experiences all throughout I became a quick thinker when it comes to solving problems and emergencies. All in all I am a bundle of uniqueness.
As I experience different things in my journey I acquired multiple set of skills like being fluent in English thru numerous exposure to different type of people. I learned how to swim because I and my friends try to go out as much as we can out of town and go swimming when we have time to spare. I know and love to cook and bake. I also have a background on how to do housekeeping so I know how to make things clean and organized with ease. I went to nursing school up to 2nd year so I learned how to perform first aid and how to tend to sick people or children. As I am a huge animal lover, I also learned how to care and be at ease with different kinds of pet. And most of all as I became the mother figure in my family I know too well how to care not just physically but also emotionally and mentally to children as I was able to support my own brothers as we grew up together and now do this as I take care of my younger nephews from time to time. Here in the Philippines my home country we are well known for being hospitable and kind not just to our own countrymen but also to foreign people that comes in our life. We have a strong sense of family ties and I will treat you, my future host family and host kids, as my own family. Philippines is rich with deep rooted culture, amazing abundance of nature and delicious delicacies that I can't wait to share to your family.
The reason I want to be an Au pair is because it's my dream and goal to experience a different kind of culture and be able to explore a different country. Since I was a teenager I was into watching documentaries about different type of culture and scenery a certain country has to offer and one time I saw a glimpse about your country and since then I tried picturing in my mind how it would feel to be able to experience firsthand all of those things. I then said to myself I will try in all of my ability to come and experience what it's like to see and learn the ways of life in that foreign land to me. It's also my wish to taste the signature dishes that your country is known for and eventually learn how to cook them. Hope to hear from you soon. Have a nice day ahead.
