First of all, Thank you for taking the opportunity to review my profile :)
I feel like there's possibly so much to say, but I'll try to keep it to a bare minimum for now. My name is Esther, but my friends & family call me Shiko.I am a 28 year girl old living at the heart of Nairobi,Kenya. Single & no kids.I have above average child care skills. You see, for the last 3 years, I have brought up a little human whom I am proud to call my nephew from the day he was born. As you can already tell from the photos on my profile, we have shared quite a lot of memories, and if I'm being honest, he's the inspiration behind this journey I am about to embark on. He's the reason I have found my passion and interest to venture into being an Au Pair. He's changed my life in ways words can't explain. Most of the photos and videos are experiences we've shared in the past, from when he was an infant, to now, when he's just about to turn 3. Of course I never knew how handy capturing them would be, it's just a hobby of mine to capture moments :)
I am generally a happy, friendly & helpful person who comes from a large family. Being a first born in a family of 5, I literally spent most of my childhood taking care of siblings may come as a surprise to you, but it is part of our African culture, the elder kids naturally help out with the younger ones, so we could say I have quite an extensive experience :) I am experienced with taking care of children (from 0 years)
From my experience, taking care of kids is more than making sure they are well fed and cleaned after. It's about making sure they grow in to responsible little humans, to guide them in learning new things, teaching them the right manners, how to communicate, how to be confident in themselves and their talents, naturing their talents, encouraging them, helping them understand their emotions and so much more...
I enjoy dancing and go karting, I also also going to the cinema. Some of my other hobbies are traveling, meeting new people,learning languages(just picking up on this), trying out different foods, music and laughing. On my free time I enjoy to engage in some photography, always carry my canon with me just in case there's something to capture :) I also love cooking, grocery shopping, I love to write & I'm an avid reader, on free afternoons I'd most likely sit at a cafe, have coffee and read a book or write. I enjoy long walks, and I also love taking care of plants & organizing spaces. I don't mind cooking a little and I have no problem doing some light housework for you and tidying for the children's toys etc. I have my driving license 6 months, so "school run" will not be problem for me I think.
I want to become a nanny or au-pair because i love children and working with families. I would like an Au Pair opportunity that offers me the chance to see life outside of Africa as I haven't experienced anything outside my continent.Possibly learn a new language as well as experience some different culture.
