A 22 year old aspiring au pair born in Saudi Arabia but is in Ethiopia named Abir, looking to be an au pair/big sister starting January 2020 :)

Having been born and raised in Saudi Arabia, things weren't always easy for a brown Ethiopian/Yemeni girl there but experiences shaped me into who I am today. I also lived in Bahrain for about 5 years from the age 8-12 before moving back to Saudi Arabia. Living in Bahrain was so much different than living in Saudi Arabia even though they're both Arab countries located next to each other. For one, Women in Bahrain weren't as restrained as those in Saudi were. In Bahrain, women were free to drive, wear what they wanted without covering themselves and people were generally more accepting of foreigners than in Saudi which taught me a lot. As I've mentioned before, my mother married a good Pakistani man whom she met in Saudi Arabia. And if you're wondering why I never mentioned him when I said that we moved to Ethiopia, that's because he stayed in Saudi Arabia for work even though situations are currently hard for expats in Saudi Arabia.

Children have always been present on my life whether it be my siblings, cousins or kids at school whom I coached singing (Cartoon theme songs and nursery rhymes so that they'd get words out more clearly). I also tutored some Pakistani kids Arabic and English. In addition, I tutored English to kids here in Ethiopia for an hour daily while giving them treats and giving them assignments connected to whichever cartoons they were watching right now. It was always Ben10 for the boys and The Power Puff Girls for the girls.

When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, going for walks, visiting places I have not been to, and reading a good book. I also enjoy painting from time to time and writing short stories here and there. But I mainly read books outside or listen to music while taking a walk.
