English speaking Au Pair with childcare experience looking to start ASAP
Dear reader,
My name is Lily, I'm 18 years old and originally from the Netherlands, though my heart lies in Asia. I am currently working as an English teacher in the Shangdong province of China, and I am looking for my next adventure. I greatly enjoy working with children and have been doing so for quite a while.
For the past seven years, I have volunteered at my local elementary school as a teaching assistant and a tutor for those approaching their high school entrance exam. I have also taught English as well as Dutch to incoming foreign exchange students for the program I went abroad with as well. During my time in Japan, I volunteered at several English camps for elementary and middle school students and had an absolute blast.
Though I do not have a lot of "babysitting" experience, I am from a big family, where looking after those younger than you is nothing more than expected. Though not everyone I consider family is related to me by blood, I have been a big sister all my life, as well as been a similar figure in the life of my sixteen cousins.
I also thoroughly enjoy learning, be it from a book or from people. This is the primary reason I wish to stay with a host family and be an au-pair. The unique insight you can give me into your culture, country, and hopefully native tongue is exhilarating to me and something I will be extremely grateful for.
I wish to find a family that is looking for more than the paid help. The host family I stayed with in Japan is very close to my heart, and I do truly believe it is possible to transcend lingual and cultural barriers. I hope this will be a shared belief with my future host family.
Though my mother tongue is Frisian, I am a native level (CEFR C2) speaker of English and Dutch. I have been taught British English all throughout my education, but am familiar and comfortable with American English as well.
