AU PAIR/ CAREGIVER from Brazil called Rhuan, 19 years old, looking for a job with an open minded and friendly family, starting from March.
Dear Host family,
Hello! :) I'm quite excited to be writing and give you a better idea of who I am. My name is Rhuan and I live in town called Cianorte which is situated in the south of Brazil. I am a 19-year-old open-minded and mostly a joyful boy. It was always a big dream of mine to go to another country to live, work and learn a lot about its culture and recently I could realize this dream going to Ireland to live with an amazing family, they are an elderly couple( both writers ), I was responsible to help them in their lovely daily routine, helping with lunch, accompanying them to places, gardening, making DYI, talking, playing games and so on. One of the nicest things of living with them in Whitegate was because both of them had written books representing Ireland in history and heritage, so I could learn a lot from people who really mastered this knowledge making it a better experience. Even staying for just a month I could with them explore a lot of the beauty that Ireland can offer; sometimes I needed to accompany Hugh on his work trips, so I had the opportunity to go to some of the really nice places that Ireland has, we headed south on the Dingle peninsula in County Kerry where I can safely say that it was one of the most breathtaking places I have seen.
I come from a small family of three: I live with my mom, stepdad, a cat and doggo. My mother is a housekeeper and she loves to sing at karaoke I would say that on weekends it's one of her favorite hobbies, sometimes I join her to sing, and my stepfather works in our city's traffic department.
My family indeed supports my choice of being an Au Pair as they already supported before, they believe that this is a great way to gain experiences, which are never too much.
If you have pets do not worry I love animals I even had hamsters, fishes, a rabbit and a guinea pig. I have animals since I was five. But currently we have only two pets, a dog called Tikinha and the other one is a cat called Frida.
I would describe myself as diligent, inventive, forward and friendly as it's quite easy for me to make new friends, I would also say trustworthy and sociable. I am quite patient with children, and I know I need to be if I want them to hear me.
I have a lot of plans concerning my future. At school, my favorite subjects were Sociology, Philosophy, and English. After my time as an Au Pair, I really want to study in a German university.( so learn german well, it's one my current goals)
My experience with children started more than two years ago when my mom told that a family's friend was looking for someone to look after their children and since I always had good relationship with children, I thought “ Why not?”. After being hired we got along well. We always did educational activities such as walking in the park, reading books, playing plenties of games, sketching and other kinds of activities that may could stimulate creativity. I took care of them for approximately ten months.
I also do not have problems to helping with housework as I'm quite used to it. I also love cooking and try international food, in Ireland one of my favorite foods was potato cake it's very simple to prepare and delicious, I would be delighted if I could cook them for my new family. I eat everything and I don't have any specific diet. One of my favorite foods is beef strogonoff I always help my mom to prepare it. I also love to cooking “tapioca” ( Brazilian food) which is a starch extracted from manioc, you can eat it with cheese, chocolate or even fruits it's definitely delicious, I will certainly bring it in my luggage :).
I have so many hobbies. One of them is watching documentaries, I prefer the historical ones for me they are the best, I could spend hours in row watching it, I also like practicing exercises, I usually go running, now I used to go three times a week mostly alone but sometimes with a friend. I could not fail to mention that
But I love dancing in JUST DANCE, It's so funny even more so when there's someone dancing with me. Currently one of my favorite activities is learning German I'm making it in a funny way so I don't get disinterested, the third favorite activity is singing and listening to music( and being honest recently I've been only into more German songs than others haha) I do it every day. I also like to do creative things like drawing. My friends usually say that I am good at giving advice and being resilient because I always try to see all the sides of an argument.
There are multiples of reasons that justify why I would like again to become an Au Pair. The first and obvious thing is because I love children. In addition, I am prepared and I am well aware of the fact that being an Au Pair is going to be a lot of hard work and demands dedication, but also dozens of new experiences gained daily. Second as I am learning German be there would help to get fluency. Plus this will be an enriching experience for both sides and I am sure that this time far away from home will make me more critical about many aspects.
Living with me is quite easy as I am not a demanding person. I will certainly respect the house rules. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer talk instead of ignoring things.
I'm sure that if you choose me as your Au Pair we will have an great time together! I hope that this letter has given you a better idea of who I am, what l am like and think. I am the right person to be there with you and take care of your children and home.
