Nanny/au pair from The Netherlands called Gulsen, 20, looking for a job with a nice and open-minded family, starting from mid April.

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Gulsen Asan and I am nineteen years old. I would love to be an au-pair for many reasons. However, the very first reason, which I am very grateful for, is because of my internship. I am studying to become an English teacher. Therefore, to improve our English our school wants us to live abroad for approximately three months. I have heard a lot about being an au-pair and this seems to be the ideal opportunity as my internship. It would mean the world to me if you choose me as your au-pair.
There is always this question what someone's hobbies are. In my case, I like reading (a lot) and baking. Sports is also something I am very fond of but unfortunately due to lots of schoolwork I do not have very much time left to do that. I recently got a hamster for my birthday and the little guy keeps me company at night when I am reading a book. I enjoy meeting up with friends and visiting cities near by. Every summer my parents, sister and I go to Turkey to relax there and enjoy the culture. I enjoy it very much and never get bored when I am there. I am attending college now and I am a sophomore. I really enjoy it but it is so much harder than high school, which is logical of course. I work in a supermarket two times a week. I have been working there for four years and I still enjoy doing it. My job contains lots of walking so I am quite active (which is good because I don't do sports). I grew up in a neighborhood with lots of children whom I played with. Those memories will never go away because it was such a precious time then and a complete other life aspect.
I am currently occupied with getting my drivers license and I hope to receive it before I might be working as an au-pair. It is much harder than I expected so it could be that it takes longer than I had anticipated at first, but I am trying my hardest. I have a mother, father and two sisters. My oldest sister has lived in America since approximately fifteen years ago. She genuinely enjoys her life there but unfortunately we don't get to see her often.
I gave myself up as an au-pair because I would like to develop a couple of skills. I am attending college to become an English teacher after three years. This seems like the perfect opportunity to develop my speaking and English in overall. To become a teacher, you will need to interact with children/teenagers. I love interacting with children/teenagers. I had tutored a couple of pupils in my own time (mainly English) and every time it gave me rush. I think it is very special when you can interact with children. Our perspectives differ a lot from each other but when you manage to see the world from their perspective and share some of yours, you can create the loveliest and realest relationships with them. My sister (21) was born different than others. Her appearance is true to her age but her mind is of a four-year-old child. Unfortunately, this will hardly ever change. I grew up with her and I still am and I have accepted her along the way. She is very special and has the biggest heart every. She never means evil and has always the best intentions. I am not going to lie, it was hard for me to grow up with her and it still is. Besides her flawless character and heart, I get easily angry with the fact that she has to live like this. But in the end, that is not what is important. She is happily surrounded by people who love her and accept her the way she is and I am very grateful for them and always will be. With this I can conclude that I have experience with taking care of a child and interacting with her. I know that that is a big requirement for when you want to become an au-pair.

I am looking forward to experiencing the life of an au-pair and bonding with children in a whole other environment.

With kind regards,

Gulsen
