Au Pair from Argentina - Milagros, 20- Starting from 1 may

Dear host family

My name is Milagros Daniela Morel. I am 20 years old. I am from Formosa, which is very quiet and little province in Argentina. I currently live with my mom and my lovely dog “Pequeña”, she is lively and she loves playing with me.

My family is big! My mother is 52 years old. Her name is Maria Elizabeth but her nickname is Marisol. She is a literature teacher, baker and journalist. She is a very lovely woman and she is so sweet with us. My father is 53 years old. I've never lived with him but we have always had a fantastic relationship as father and daughter. He is a public employee and an extraordinary photographer that's why I have so many photos all around my life!

I, also, have 2 brothers. My brother Gonzalo is the oldest; he is 30 years old and he works in a big store here in Formosa and he is about to get his degree. He lives with his wife. Rodrigo is 29 years old; he is a doctor, and he works in hospital in other province called Misiones, which is 10 hours from Formosa and that is why we don't see each other many time in the year.
I love my family and I spend all time that I can with them. We are a very united family, and we have fun together! All the Christmas and New Year we go to a small town called “Mision Laishi”. There we have all our family, my grandfather, my grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins live there as well.

I like reading about medieval literature. I like all kind of books, but my favorite ones are “Hamlet” from Shakespeare and “One hundred years of loneliness” from Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I also enjoy going to the gym or training myself. In my free time, my favorite hobbies are going to the cinema, walk, listening to music and baking cake!!! I love listening national rock of Argentina and romantic music. I like meeting my friends to share a dinner, relax, watch movie or simply talk.

I have finished high school in 2015; school's name is “Centro Polivalente de Arte”. I had good grades in all my subjects, and thanks to that I was a flag bearer. Also I've got a degree in Argentinian Folk Dances .After that I start studied for being a literature teacher. I love my career, and I am currently working as a volunteer in the literature club and helping other students in literature related subjects like orthography, essays and grammar.

Regarding my level of English, I have an A2 level according to the Common European framework of reference. I have studied English for 6 years when I was younger, but now I am having individual lessons with an english teacher.

I'm glad to say that I have a lot of experience taking care of children since I was very young. In 2009 and early 2011, I take care of Florencia, who is the youngest child of my mother's friend. At that time, she was an 8 month old baby. The activities I did with her were: preparing the bottle, changing her diaper, sometimes putting her to bed, fold her little clothes and of course, playing a lot. I became very close to her mom, we have confidence and today, I love Florencia as if she was my little sister and I always see her whenever I can.

Also I took care of Martina, for almost 3 months. She was also very young when I met her. With Martu, I was also responsible for making food, went to play in the square or the park, made her sleep , changing her diaper, I always babysitting her for 4 to 5 hours every time, because her mother is single and work long shifts.
In addition, in the summer of 2016, I was "tutor" to an 11-year-old girl, teaching her basic English. Finally, in 2015-2016 I participated in several masses, in which together with a team we spent 1 or 2 hours in the church playing with the children about 5 to 11 years old. The activities we did were drawing, crafting, also we teached them Argentinian folk dances and that's was really great. Finally we became very close with the children, we loved being with them.

I like to define myself as a super positive person. I think you have to look at life with a smile, and always get the best of each situation. I'm very passionate about everything that I do, and I think that's something that defines my personality. In addition, I am empathetic and sensitive, but I do not see it as a defect. I am also very responsible, I take the things that I do very seriously and I like to fulfill what I promise.

From this program, I hope to improve my english, to know more about the culture of the USA .And above all, to make a difference in the lives of my future host kids, as they will surely do it in mine.
From my new family, I hope to be able to consider them "my American parents", to have confidence and support and to share very good moments. The USA is an impressive country, and although I know the places I like the most, that will not be important when making a decision, because I think the key to make this experience a success is to be with the right family.

I do not have words to express how anxious, excited, nervous (a roller coaster of emotions) that I'm about to know you, your life and expectations so you may remind me in the future as a good Au Pair that was part of your life. Perhaps we'll meet in a short time.

I hope to hear from you soon. All the best,
Milagros
