Hello, dear host family,
My name is Evgenia. I am 24 y.o. I grew up in a small Russian town Petrozavodsk that is located in the Republic of Karelia – the land of forests and lakes.

I am very curious and active: I like trying new sports and I also love adventures. I tried myself in such sports as dancing, athletics, skating and swimming. Twice I was lucky to be a participant of a week-long husky-riding tour. We slept in tents, ate food cooked on fire and learned to handle sleigh. I am friendly, easygoing, open to new experience and responsible.
I have a big family: two sisters (23 and 34 y.o.) and a younger brother (17 y. o.). As I always helped my parents to take care of my little brother while they were at work, I may say that I know how to get along with children since I was a child by myself. And starting from then my experience with children always develops as there are always children in my life.
My older sister is married and has a 10 year old daughter. Their family used to live in Sweden where I often came to spend some time with them and to help with my niece while they were in business trips. Now they live in Israel. I love my niece and really miss her all the time so I always try to grab a chance to spend some time with her: I go to Israel for vocation or their family comes to Russia to visit us.
I already had an experience of being an Aupair when I was 19 years old. I studied at the university at the foreign languages faculty learning English and Finnish and decided to take a gap year to go to Finland and get to know the culture of the language I learned better. I lived in a family with 3 girls (3, 7 and 10 y.o.). They lived in the countryside in a very nice cozy house with their own farm: there were sheep, chickens, rabbits, and two big dogs. My responsibilities were playing with girls, feeding them, taking them out for a walk, caring about them. Especially close I became with the eldest girl – I was like an elder sister for her. She liked spending time in my room, we listened to music together, she played the piano and tried to teach me (however I quickly found out that it was too difficult and decided this musical instrument was not for me). We also liked dancing, cooking, riding bicycles together, just having fun like sisters. As for the middle one, we often draw, made different handcrafts and fed animals. She was very creative. As for the younger girl, she was the most energetic one. She loved walking outside, thought up different games where each participant had her own role. Every time I took her from kindergarten, she always made up a story of her own and told it to me. That was so sweet.
Apart from helping with children, I also helped my host mother with housework a lot.
When I came to Finland my level of knowledge of Finnish was quite law. The girls spoke just Finnish and never English, however, we got along quickly and thanks to them I developed my knowledge of Finnish and already in two months I could understand everything they spoke about and keep up the conversation.

Now I would like to try myself in this program once again. And there are two main reasons for it. The first one – I really enjoyed my previous experience being an AuPair and getting to know another culture from the inside. And the second reason is my wish to study in Italy.
I love music, art and design. I finished an art school. I had been working as a visual merchandiser in H&M for 3 years. After all years of studying and working – of looking for something I enjoy doing – I have finally understood that I would like to get an education in the field of design or architecture. I have started looking for universities abroad and after some research on websites I have found out that the best country to get education in this field is Italy. Which I find great, as I always wanted to visit this country. Before getting into university I would like to know this country better. In my opinion, the Au pair program is the best way to get acquainted with another country, to learn a foreign language (I have already started to learn Italian langage, but it is much easier and faster to learn it in the counrty with native speakers), to meet new people, to see how they live and communicate and what traditions they have.
I have read a lot about Italy. This country is not very big but how bright it is with its local color and how diverse the life there seems to be. Italian food is known throughout the whole world thanks to such dishes as pasta and pizza. Italian fashion sets the world trends. The countryside in Italy is picturesque landscapes, wineries, olive groves. I like sport, and I have found out that the Italians love football and ski sports. As for Italian people's character, I think they are very open-minded, and very emotional. These are only my assumptions but I hope one day I will get a chance to experience real Italian life by myself! And the more I learn about this country the stronger my desire to visit this country is.
