24 year old substitute teacher, lifetime Girl Scout, native English speaker and proficient in French, eager to work with a wonderful family starting mid-June

Hello! My name is Elaine! I am a 24 year old substitute teacher in Houston, Texas. I generally work with intermediate/high school students and life skills and special education. I am a lifetime Girl Scout and love working with kids and teens. I have volunteered at many Girl Scout summer camps and events with duties ranging from crafts and songs to unit leader. I was also a Program Aide (PA) coordinator for a few camps from 2007 to 2011. As a PA coordinator, I was responsible for training girls starting in 4th grade (8 or 9 years old) so that they could become PAs and work with the younger campers. In addition to training the older girls, I have been a unit leader for Brownie Girl Scouts (starting age 5).

I studied French and language acquisition at university, where I planned on teaching English as a Second Language. I have some experience in tutoring non-native English speakers; I love helping and watching kids learn!

I don't mind housework and like to cook. I am a vegetarian, but I do cook and eat fish on occasion. I enjoy the outdoors and exploring new places. I ride my bike, swim, and go for walks and hikes when the weather is nice.
