Nanny/ Au pair from the States, I'm Kat, and I'm a responsible, loving, and hard working 26 year old. I absolutely love children, and helping others (of all ages:) reach to their greatest potential! Traveling and learning about other cultures is one of my passions. I am interested in growing as a person from this experience, and sharing the skills and caring qualities that I have to offer as well. :)
I am a well traveled, genuine, happy young lady. I've lived in Nebraska for most of my life, excluding when I was a young girl, for college, and now while AuPairing.
Before I began on my first adventure as an Au pair in Finland (which was really great :) the previous 6 years I worked in a salon in the States as a stylist. I absolutely love this career, and have a tremendous passion for hair and people. The salon is very family oriented so I spent a good chunk of my time with kids, and really enjoyed it!
For the last 2 years I have been attending a college after work where I have been working towards my Bachelors of Science in Psychology & Linguistics. I realized working at the salon I have a true passion for people and young adults, and that I am interested in teaching ESL in the future. I have continued taking my courses online while AuPairing.
In the States, I also worked part time as a Princess, you might recognize the name, Ariel:) My princess friends and I attend kids birthday parties, swimming parties with our mermaid fins, sing karaoke with birthday girls, read at local book stores, and we do special visits to Children's hospitals sometimes. This "job" is fabulous and is really more of a blessing because it's so fun.:)
When I wasn't working or at school my hobbies are: working on my house (because what girl doesn't enjoy a giant arts and crafts project:), spending time with my family, or my friends. We enjoy hiking, caving, camping, travel, just spending quality time together, going to have a meal, or a coffe together. :)
Growing up traveling was always important to our family, but don't be fooled- resorts weren't usually on the list. Canoeing & hiking in Canada with backpacks and tents was more like it! Along the way we learned the importance of being independent, cooking meals, cleaning up after yourself, teamwork, and I believe that these are qualities that built strong character for me, and is why I love being outside so much!!
I also enjoy cooking and baking very much! I'm comfortable helping tidy up the house! :) I have had my drivers license for 10 years, and have driven a manual for 9 years. I've also driven on both sides of the road, haha!
