Portuguese au pair wanted to help look after two lovely little girls (aged 4y and 18m). We live near a fantastic city called Bristol, UK.

Hi,

I am Sofia (34) and my husband is Tim (35). We have two lovely little girls, Katie (4) and Emily (18 month). We are a loving and easy-going family. We are respectful and kind to others and try encourage that in our parenting.

Katie and Emily are very happy, bright children. They both love the outdoors, going for walks, to the playground or exploring new places. They both love singing and reading books. Katie enjoys doing anything creative such as painting. Sofia's parents are Portuguese (although she has lived all over the world) and Tim is English. We met in 2006 when we were medical students and as they say, the rest is history! We speak mostly English at home although we hope the girls will learn more Portuguese. The girls go to the local nursery 3 full days a week. Sofia works part time (Tuesday and Thursday PM) at Southmead Hospital and Tim works full time at the Bristol Royal Infirmary Hospital. Sofia also does some voluntary work. We don't smoke and we don't have pets.

On weekends we enjoy exploring local family events such as food markets, music concerts, farms etc. We are members of the National Trust and Bristol Zoo so we often make use of this. We also enjoy day trips to the seaside and to visit family and friends. We enjoy cooking and travelling so we love discovering new recipes! In the evenings we tend to talk and watch TV after dinner (as we are usually too tired to do much else!).

We live in a large 5-bedroom on the outskirts of Bristol in a village called Flax Bourton. We have actually only moved house a couple of months ago (previously we were in the next village called Long Ashton, so we already know the area well). There is a playground just 5 minutes' walk away, as well as a village pub and shops in two neighbouring villages (Long Ashton and Backwell). We have very good bus links (5 min walk to the bus stops) and it only takes 15 minutes to get to the city centre (about 10km). There is also a cycle route which is a popular way for locals to commute.

Bristol is a fantastic city in the Southwest of England. It has two universities so there are a lot of students and young people. It is a culturally diverse city with lots to explore. There is a large shopping area in the city centre with a cinema complex and restaurants. There are very good road and train links to other UK cities. It takes less than 2 hours on the train to London from Bristol Temple Meads station.

We are looking for a Portuguese au pair with some previous experience of caring for children.
You would have your own large bedroom (with en-suite bathroom) in our home. We have wi-fi throughout the house. We would also provide you with a SIM card with a £15 monthly allowance and you would have use of an apple iPhone during your stay if you needed. We would set you up with a prepaid cash card for work related expenses and help you open a bank account if you don't already have one. We would be glad to help you with arranging your au pair insurance. You don't need to drive but if you are confident doing so we can discuss insuring you to drive one of our cars.

Duties:
We would like you to help get the girls dressed and to nursery and then pick them up at the end of the day, give them a snack and help get them ready for bed. You would be part of the family so we would have meals together. We are pretty easy going when it comes to food so you would be welcome to help yourself to anything too. We would like you to help with light household chores such as clearing the kitchen, tidying the toys, doing the children's laundry etc. We would expect you to keep your own room tidy.

Summary of working hours:
- You would work a maximum of 30 hours a week
- Most of your work would be between 7:00-9:00 and then 17:00 - 19:30 although this is flexible
- The weekends would usually be free unless babysitting one evening
- Extra hours (such as babysitting) would be mutually agreed and paid at £5 an hour
- Weekly salary is £100 (plus £15 phone credit and travel costs during working hours)

The middle of your days would usually be completely free. You might want to do a language course or learn another skill? There are lots of language schools and adult learning courses in Bristol and we would be more than happy to help you find the right one for you.

You would NOT be responsible for house cleaning as we have a person who cleans the whole house once a week.
