French speaking nanny/au pair needed for a fun UK family with 2 children and 2 cats. Based in Sevenoaks (a London suburb).

Dear Au Pair/Nanny,

We have decided to find an au pair/nanny because we would like our children to be exposed to the French language and have some help with childcare and light housework. We are a fun young family looking for a kind hearted person to be responsible to our children. We are active people who like to socialise and travel. We have two fluffy indoor cats as pets and love animals. It is a non-smoking household and we are meat eaters who enjoy an occasional glass of wine.

My name is Georgia and I am 34 years old. Before I had the children I worked as a Global Marketing Director for a big technology company. My children are very young and I cannot do the extensive travel or hours my job requires me to do so last year I decided to take some time out to raise the family. I have always worked with different cultures and spent two months living in Italy when I was at University; I spoke no Italian and I was staying in a region where nobody spoke English. It was challenging at first but by the end of the trip I had begun to learn the language and made some wonderful friends along the way. I am invested to help you learn English and to help you to have a happy experience with us. I am originally from Canterbury in the UK and speak with a professional southern English accent.

My husband Christopher is 35 years old and is a Chemical Engineer working for an exciting company who develops the technology to convert waste plastic to fuel. He commutes into London for work every day during the week. Chris grew up in South Africa although his Father is English and his Mother is Dutch.

We live in a newly renovated five-bedroom townhouse in Sevenoaks and have two sons; Harrison age two years old and Elliott age four months old. Sevenoaks is a beautiful market town surrounded by countryside, yet within striking distance of London city centre, and is often listed as one of the top places to live in the UK. Our house is located on one of the most sought after roads by the train station (~30mins to London) and also a bus stop that takes you to nearby towns such as Royal Tunbridge Wells. We live amongst a parade of shops and you can walk to the town centre in ~10 mins. There are lots of beautiful parks to explore and historical buildings such as The Knole. We are 30mins to Gatwick airport and 20mins to Ebbsfleet International Station for the Eurostar.

The children are still very young so you will not be expected to be in sole charge of them for extensive periods of time but to help out with the morning routine, evening routine and to play with them. We may from time to time ask that you help for a few hours over the weekend but would discuss this with you to ensure you can be available. Previous experience with babies and pre-school children is desirable. We will pay you £80 per week pocket money, which we will give to you every Friday.

Harrison is an inquisitive 2 year old who loves music and is full of energy so likes to run around in parks, ride his tricycle and go to soft play. He attends nursery in the mornings during the week and comes home in the afternoon for his nap. At the weekends Chris takes him to football, rugby and swimming lessons.

Elliott is a very smiley and good-natured baby. He likes his bubble bath in the evenings and also enjoys going swimming at the weekends.

We need an au pair to start with us ~4th April 2019 (potentially earlier) and stay for 2 – 14 months. You will have your own bedroom and private shower room on the top floor of our home (we all live on the floor below).

We live so close to all the local amenities that it is not necessary for you to drive however we do have a second car that you can use for use within reason.

Some areas we would like some help with include:

- Playing with the children (en français s'il vous plaît)
- Basic cooking for the children
- Morning and evening routine
- Children's laundry (sorting clean laundry into piles and some ironing)
- Keeping the children's room clean and tidy
- Occasional evening babysitting
- Feed & cuddle the cats

We have a cleaner who comes every Friday to clean the whole house, however we do ask that you maintain and keep tidy your own shower room and bedroom (as we do for our own rooms). We do not expect you to do all the laundry as I will most likely continue to do all the washing and we use the dry cleaners across the road to iron Chris's shirts for work.

We would like to teach the children to speak French and feel it is important to expose them from a very young age. Therefore we encourage whoever joins us to speak and play with them in their mother tongue. You will have the opportunity to speak English in the home with the parents, when we visit baby groups, day trips and outside the home with others. We are committed to help you improve your English and have experience living in foreign countries ourselves. We will pay for one English lesson per week at the Sevenoaks English Language Centre in exchange for helping our children to gain exposure to French. Additionally we will allow room in your schedule to attend free au pair English sessions at Sevenoaks Library.

We want whoever joins us to have a positive experience, to enjoy the local area and have the opportunity explore what the great city of London has to offer. Making friendships and happy memories is very important. We would like you to be available Mon-Fri, some Saturdays and Sunday is a free day.

We look forward to you being our au pair.

Warm regards,

Georgia, Christopher, Harrison and Elliott.
