We have decided to find an au pair because we need help looking after our children and with some housework after the kids. We are looking for an au pair to be a big sister to our children and to become another member of our family. I have tried to include everything I can here to explain our family and life. Please ask us questions.
My name is Erin and I am thirty nine years old, I work as Human Resources Director and my husband works as an Engineer for a large automotive company. We both have great busy lives and love our big family. In terms of personality, my husband is direct and to the idea while I can be reserved but social and love to talk
We live in a five-bedroom house near Cleveland Ohio which offers lots to do. We have 4 children ages 12.5, 11, and 3.5 Our daughter is named Julie age 12.5 Shawn is 11 who goes to the local primary school. Shawn has Autism although he is very high functioning and sweet. Unless you are with him daily you would not necessarily know he has autism. He is kind, loving, and affectionate and warm and is brilliant in math and science. He likes a structured day and knowing what is going to happen. Shawn also has attention deficit and so does Julie which means they can get side tracked so you have to keep on track of them doing their homework and chores Shawn also has therapy twice a week and you would be taking him to that. Shawn loves Disney and anything transportation related such as monorail, trains and boats. I have information available about high functioning Autism as he is high functioning and not low functioning which they always show on TV.
Julie is smart, independent, playful and not afraid to speak her mind. She loves Disney and princesses. She is slow in the morning like most kids and you have to ask her several times to brush hair and teeth. Much like most children her age. She is good about doing her homework. She is looking for a big sister someone who she can talk to have be friends with but yet will still be an adult with her as she still needs boundaries.
Evan is so much fun. He also has very high functioning autism. He is a fun busy energetic Kingergartner who knows how to keep you moving. He is so snuggly and sweet and gives the best hugs ever. He loves to build and play with cars and trains. His favourite movie is Muppets movie and Guardians of the Galaxy. He likes gymnastics and riding a bike. He goes to school Monday to Friday 9am to 4. High functioning autism is not like what you see on TV they talk are so incredibly smart but he needs reminders when switching to an unfavorable task and likes routines and knowing what is going to come next.
Andrew is 3.5 years old and is so sweet and loves to be held. I mean he loves to be held there are days that is all I can do. He wants to be snuggled and loved. He is cute sweet and active he likes to go and move and have fun. He is go go go and loves to be cute. He is funny and learning so much from his siblings. HE is so very smart and he knows it. He goes to the same school as Evan and is in school from 9am to 2pm mon to Friday
We love Disney and own at Disney Vacation Club and Hilton Grand Vacations and love to cruise. We love all things Disney and hope you do too as it's a big part of our family. I go as often as we can. We have a trip planned for a Disney World October and November 2019 and a cruise in March and August 2019
During our free time who am I kidding what free time we usually work on the house or we try to get a date night and go to a movie and dinner. We like to go the parks, the zoo and have an annual pass to the zoo and the science museum. The kids love the jumping zone and it burns off energy. We spend a lot of time working on some removel projects in the house. During our downtime we have been doing bathroom remodel that will probably take months as I am learning how to tile and do floors etc but its been interesting. My husband loves to exercise and lift weights and we have home gym in the basement.
My husband is up at 5:15AM to handle medications and breakfast. I come down around 6:20AM to help get everyone moving. Your day usually begins around 6:45 to 7am (this depends on the aupair and how much you want to help get everyone moving and your schedule for that day). If I am travelling then you would shift to night time in the above and help with kids dinner bedtime and homework. If I am travelling brian shifts his schedule as his day doesn't really have a lot of variation.
We do ask that you will clean up after the children and laundry and support the household in keeping the house clean with us. There will be 7 of us so that is always a chore to keep the house moving. We also would like you help with dinners if you can cook. I often make crockpot meals for the month and they need to be started so simple. If you love to cook feel free as I do not win awards for my cooking. we will pay you every week at the US aupair weekly rate.
Our city is 20 miles outside Cleveland and there are other au pairs close by. There is also a good language school and we will encourage you to go for lessons there to learnEnglish. In the city of Avon there is shopping, a mall, parks, community pool, YMCA, We are not in an area where you will find night clubs and parties unless you go downtown (appox 25 min) Its a very family oriented area that is up and coming and growing. This is a great suburb with lots around. I have added a lot about Cleveland below. Its an affordable bigger city that offers culture without the price tag of NYC or LA. Plus as a bonus airfare is cheap. We fly to Orlando, vegas, Atlanta for 20.00 each way. which means you get to enjoy the lower cost of living without spending all of your spending money on a few meals each week as you would in LA, Boston, NY etc.
You will have your own bedroom and private bathroom. It's a great room and big. It is from the wilderness lodge and walt disney world. I bought an entire room from the hotel when they convered to disney vacation club the room is amazing.
We have 3 dogs Buddy (Cavalier King Charles) and a labrador (age 9 weeks) and we do not smoke. Smoking is a big no in our family. They will need to be let outside to use the potty during the day. WE love dogs and these are awesome.
We will need you to drive our second car a minivan and we shall arrange some driving lessons for you when you arrive if you need them. We do have some years with bad winters but not as much snow as the east side of Cleveland we are to west about 1 mile from one of the great lakes so the snow goes over us we had 30 cm so far last year but other years have been 80cm plus. The driving will be in medium traffic we do have free ways. Being a good driver is very important since you will have our precious family and driving several times a day to pick up the boys. We are very stringent about no texting or cell phone use while driving. This is very important to us as you will have our children texting or cell phone use can wait. You may use this car for taking the children to school, doctors appointments, going to your classes and for your private use within reason.
