This is the fifth time we have decided to use an au pair. Previously we have had live in nannies. Our current au pair is from Brazil and previous au pairs were from Brazil and Columbia. We are looking forward to welcoming our next au pair. Our children are used to diverse backgrounds and are eager to meet someone new.
Our family consists of my husband Peter, and I (Jill) and our 4 children. Fletcher is the oldest at 20 years old and is a junior in college!. He enjoys playing the trumpet, video games, recreational sports, and listening to music. Payton is 18 years old and is a freshman in college. She had played competitive soccer and track and is a natural athlete. She also loves fashion and making sure she looks good every day. Next is our son Tanner who is 15 years old. He is a dancer and loves to watch movies and TV and play video and board games. Our last child is our daughter Londyn, who is 11 years old. She is in 7th grade this year. She takes dance multiple times a wee

She takes dance multiple times a week as well. Our children are very loving and affectionate but do require a routine to keep things organized and running smoothly. The two older children are not home except for breaks do not need much from the au pair as they are very mature and independent. The majority of the duties will be for the two younger children. Although we do have 2 kids at home the job is pretty easy and straight forward. We do have 2 small dogs as well who add joy and excitement to our lives.
We live in Marlboro, New Jersey. This is in central New Jersey. We are not far from NYC or Philadelphia by train or bus. We have plenty of shopping, restaurants, movie theaters and local colleges nearby.
Both of us work 5 days a week. Peter works in sales and is on the road or home office throughout the day. I work for our local school district as a pediatric physical therapist. I leave for work around the same time as the kids and depending on my schedule will get home between 3:15-7:00. Our day typically starts the same for the kids but depending on their after school commitments, etc it changes daily in terms of dinner times, bedtimes, etc. On Saturdays the kids have various events so we usually need assistance getting the kids to all of their activities.
We are a very health conscious family. We try to eat mostly organic foods and are very strict on making sure the kids get vegetables, protein and fruit in during the day. We cook meals that are overall healthy without added salt or sugar. My husband and I go to the gym regularly and I run frequently outside. Our kids are also required to get in exercise on most days of the week.
Morning: -Kids get ready for school and eat breakfast During Day: -kids are at school( free time for au pair form 8:00-3:00) at some point-straighten up rooms and do laundry -dogs are walked one-two times throughout the day Afternoon: -kids get back from school and do homework -they get ready for their activities later in day. Drive to activity. - dinner is made at convenient times and kids eat when they can Night: -after activities kids shower and get ready for bed - lunches are made for the next school day -house is usually settled by 9:30-10 pm
