Dear Au Pair, A friendly and welcoming Finnish family with four great kids (7-17 yrs) is looking for an au pair/nanny with a big heart, social mind and good driving skills to experience the Scandinavian lifestyle with us. Good, preferably native English skills required, start in January/ February 2017. Come and experience the Scandinavian life style with us. We live in Espoo, the capital area. We´ve had 7 au pairs before - from Italy, USA, Wales and United Kingdom - good references available (see

We are a family with four children between 7-17. You'd mainly take care of the two youngest, Frans and Millie. Frans, 7 years is a sunny, active firstgrader with big love for reading and playing - with lots of little boy charisma! He goes to a nearby school five days a week. He has previously gone to the English daycare so he can pretty fluently communicate in English, too. And ready to learn more.

Millie, 9, s a cute little, smiley girl. Because or her disability she needs extra help with all her daily activities, after she gets back home from school, (around 5 pm). Every second week she stays in a special daycare and stays overnight there, too. As a personality she is a charming, cute, friendly and social girl.

Edvin,17 (currently in Argentina as an exchange student until June 2017) and Ralf, 14, are active football players, joyful and active young men. I am sure they would love to take you to their games or see/play icehockey or to skate (wintertime). Summertime they have the luxury of having 10 weeks off the school, and that´s when we spend more time at our cottage in Central Finland, travel or just relax at home.

The parents work in the field of communications, the mother as an entrepreneur, writer and coach in an communications agency. The father runs his own small business in video and film production. We live in a charming private house in the capital area in Espoo, surrounded by nature, sea and forest, but still with easy access and short distance to all cultural events and delights of Helsinki, the Finnish capital. We travel a lot for work and on holidays, too, and love to learn more about cultures.

Your main duties are taking care of the two youngest, Frans, 7 years, and Millie, 9 years, in the afternoon/early evening, and to take older boys to their hobbies, when needed (football). You´ll also prepare snacks and occasionally cook dinner - we´ll help you, of course. Millie is a lovely little, disabled girl with special needs, and needs extra help with her daily routines. Frans and Millie both go to school five days a week, so you would start working from early afternoon, 2-3 pm, 5 days a week. Edvin and Ralf have their sports exercises and games after school, so you´d help taking them there and back. You´ll have a lot of freetime for your own activities and hobbies - or you are welcome to join ours.

Your tasks include picking Frans from school by car and welcome Millie home (she has transportation by public school taxi). You will also help with some light/average household work, f.g. cleaning/hoovering and and keeping places tidy.

You have full board for free, also when traveling and spending free time with the family. You´ll live in a private modern small studio (14m2), with own bathroom and toilet + terrace in a newly built annex building to the mainhouse. In addition, you´ll get a monthly pocket money of 350 euros + extra for possible extra hours, a mobile for local calls, Wifi and a montly regional bus/train card (value about 100 euros a month, giving you a limitless access to trains, buses and trams in the capital area) and a language course. We´ll cover your pension/tax expenses (Value around +30 % on your income). Your working time is maximum 25-30 hours a week, and for extra hours we´ve paid extra - so you can earn more, if you wish. We also cover your expenses when traveling, spending free time or going out with the family.

WHEN TO START? We expect you to start between Jan-Feb 2017 and hope you to stay minimum 6 months, preferably a full year.

"The Lehtipuus are a perfect family if you are looking for a true cultural exchange. After working 1.5 years for this family, they have shown me a lot of love and kindness. The family has four children, meaning four different personalities to get to know which is fun and interesting. The parents are always willing to offer great conversation and advice. There can be tiring and difficult moments (as with any au pair job) but working for this family is very rewarding and they are always appreciating your hard work as their au pair. This family has had many wonderful au pairs, so they understand the au pair-host family dynamics and relationships. The host mom is clear and concise with responsibilities, for example with creating the contract or leaving daily notes. I am always surprised by how inclusive the family is; inviting you to meet their friends during a dinner party or joining them on an adventure outside the home. Lastly, they encourage you to have a full social life and help you to truly fall in love with Finland in your own way. Join this family if you are looking for a rewarding and relaxed place of work. "My time with the Lehtipuu family was an exciting and enriching experience. The family not only welcomed me into their home with open arms and hearts, but also a desire to show me the Finnish lifestyle to the best of their abilities. The children were all very excited to have a new person to share their interests and stories with. They each had their own personality and it was a blast getting to know each of them. The parents are warm and inviting, you never feel unwelcome or as a temporary fixture in their lives. My time with them is irreplaceable and I would encourage anyone to join this great family! An added bonus is that Finland is also such a great place to live- it's beautiful, unique, safe, and interesting."

"The Lehtipuu family is a great family to work for! Unna and Joonas ensure that their nanny/au pair do not feel as if they are a "hired hand," but rather make you feel as if you are a part of their family in all aspects of life. The children are silly and fun to be around. All four children have their own unique personality and make life with the Lehtipuus both entertaining and fun every
