Au pair needed for family with two young boys, a horse and a beautiful country property an easy drive from city and beaches.

We live in beautiful Maleny in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and are looking for an au pair to start no later than mid-February 2017 although we would welcome a January start date. The length of your stay is something we're happy to work out with you, but we'd like to aim for four-six months to start with.

About us:

- Andy is a lawyer and works about 45 minutes away near the beach in Maroochydore. Lily and the boys love to do early morning beach trips and visit him in the office every now and then.

- Lily is also a lawyer but is on leave from work until October 2017. At that time she will be working two or three days a week.

- Jack is a very happy, intense, busy two year old. He loves riding his bike, playing outside, playing in the creek on our property, talking, swimming in our neighbour's pool, going for walks, playing in the sandpit, planting and watering vegetables, animals, reading books, painting and exploring new places.

- Harry is a very happy one year old boy capable of entertaining himself if his idol Jack is not around to do so.

- We value a kind, loving, compassionate household. We have invested a lot of time into planting several thousand trees on our property and plan to continue this good environmental work as a family. Every day our children interact with animals (horse, pig, dogs, chickens etc) and we would love to get a dog when we have built a fence around our yard. We also want to expand our vegetable garden in the near future.

- Both boys are happiest outside, so that is where we spend most of our day. We have a large garden and our property is seven acres with a creek on it so there is lots of room to run and explore. We also like to visit parks, dams, rainforests, the library etc with the boys.

- We are very good friends with our neighbours and have a great community feel on our street, with seven other children under 10 nearby. We socialise with some of these kids and their parents a few times a week.

- We have a horse who loves pats and attention. Lily would love to get back into riding him a few times a week while our au pair looks after the boys.

- We live about 1km from the town of Maleny where all essential services are provided.

- Our weekends are predominantly spent at home, and we love to have visitors.

What we are looking for:

- We would like you to help with caring for our boys three days a week (either Tues-Thurs, or Wed-Fri).

- We would expect you to:

o Clean your own bedroom and bathroom;

o Do your own washing;

o Help Lily wash, fold and put away the boys' washing;

o Help Lily prepare snacks, lunches and dinner for the boys, and clean up after them;

o Pack away toys at the end of the day;

o Cook one family dinner per week;

o Do some cleaning / household chores.

- Your caring for the boys would start around 9am and, at the latest, finish around 7pm when the children are asleep. When Andy gets home from work before the children are in bed, he will take over reading stories etc and you'll get to go about your evening. There will be several periods of time during the day when only one boy is awake and spending time with Lily and you'll be free to do as you please.

- Essentially it's the hands-on times like mealtimes and dinner/bath/bedtime when a second set of hands will be most useful to us.

- Its unlikely that you'll be caring for both boys on your own all that much – Lily isn't working and is rarely away from home for more than two hours, although there is a prospect of her starting some work sooner than October if the boys are happy in your company. The boys' grandparents also like to visit, and take the boys places, so whenever they do you can choose to either accompany them or enjoy some time alone.

- We would love our boys to be exposed to another language and would welcome any childrens books you'd like to bring with you, and any of your language you would like to share with them. Jack currently goes to a French family daycare although it is finishing in December.

- It is essential to us that you are keen to play with the children, not just watch them play.

- We expect some flexibility from you if we need you to start earlier or babysit one night, and we are certainly happy to accommodate any needs you have for appointments etc.

What we can offer:

- A friendly, caring family environment;

- Private, fully furnished bedroom with air conditioning and Wifi;

- Use of your own bathroom and toilet;

- Access to all other areas of the house and property;

- All meals;

- Use of our home phone to call all Australian numbers – fixed and mobile;

- Access to our home phone to call overseas (although we would expect you to pay for the cost of the calls themselves);

- Taking you on our week-long holidays on Stradbroke Island (currently planned for March and September 2017);

- Access to one of our cars when they're not being used by us (if you have an appropriate drivers licence);

- Lifts to/from Sunshine Coast beaches/shopping centres with Andy on your days off (he goes there for work);

- Lifts to/from nearby train or bus stations on your days off if you wish to go further afield;

- Help planning any holidays or weekends away;

- Flexibility to take unpaid breaks within your au pair placement with us at mutually suitable times;

- Connecting you with other families nearby who may appreciate your assistance and pay you for babysitting;

- Payment for the three days work – either by way of cash or deposit into your bank account.
