Au Pair to help us look after our 2 children(ages 8 and 3), a little house work as my husband and I both work.
My name is Caroline, I am thirty one years old and I am a Kenyan national. My wonderful experience as an au pair brought my husband, Craig and I to a decision of looking for an au pair to help look after our children and with some light housework. We are looking for an au pair to be a big sister to our children and to become another member of our family.
At the moment, I am looking for a job and my husband, who is American works here in Germany.
We live in Esslingen, which is a 20 minute drive to the big city of Stuttgart. We have a son (Enzi) age eight years, who goes to the local primary school and a daughter (Nyke) who is 3 years old and goes to the Montessori kindergarden, which is a stone throw away from Enzi's school. The children love playing outside with neighbors and friends and they also love swimming. If it were up to them, they would live in the swimming pool :) . It is very important that our au pair can swim as we prefer someone to stay with the kids at the pool because Nyke still can't swim.
We will require you to baby-sit two nights a week and need you to help us in our home for a few hours each week with light housework and some ironing. You will have weekends free and we will pay you 260 Euros per month pocket money.
In Esslingen or even Stuttgart, there is a lot to do. There are always festivals, "Frühlingsfest" (Spring- festival), Christmas markets, Burgerfest etc where people from all over come and celebrate the German culture. Stuttgart has many young people and there are lots of pubs, cafes where people come together to have parties. There is a bus stop near the house, 4 minutes walk, with direct access into Esslingen City and Stuttgart.
You will have your own bedroom and bathroom. We have a family bathroom where the children, Craig and I share.
We do not have any pets but Craig and I smoke.
We need an au pair to start with us in August, 2016 and stay until at least March, 2017. We will support you if you choose to take German classes. I speak German to the children and Craig speaks only English with them. Enzi speaks both German and English fluently and he could help with some basic words. Nyke, on the other hand speaks a mixture of German and English, but understands both. She still hasn't learned to separate the two languages.
