Ranch family in rural California looking for AuPair to help with driving, housework, etc..
Expectations
Through the morning hours you can follow and help the girls accomplish their schoolwork, perhaps throw a load of their laundry in or tidy the living area/kitchen, plan on lunch meal/snack for the afternoon evening. You do not have to be "omnipresent" with the girls during school - just be available if needed. So if the basics are done you may have time to play music, read, ride horses, swim, relax, etc... We just want someone who understands how to help the family. If you speak French, it would be ideal if you could immerse the girls in that language as they have been taking French lessons for many years.
An important facet of the job will be in the afternoon after school, when you pack up the girls, some good music, snacks, etc.. and drive through California farmland (a little over an hour each way) to take them to their preprofessional dance program. Head back in the evening after about 3-5 hours (depending on the day). During that window of time, you are free to take classes at the Community College, exercise, shop the malls, Skype, etc... It is a large city with lots of options!
We really hope to find a "right-hand gal"/big sister. We are a busy, fun family and need a third adult to be around when we aren't. There will be LOTS of free time for the au pair, but as a family member I would expect that they would continue to help out around the house/ranch to help keep the "home fires burning". I would love it if the au pair was an experienced horse person, as they could not only ride with the girls, but also take advantage of the opportunity for themselves. I need someone who is comfortable keeping the girls busy with their schoolwork and activities when we are not there. I hope to find someone that is good at "seeing what needs to be done". I prefer not to have to direct every step or expectation... as I always have multiple things on my "to do" list as well! However, I believe in good communication and am more than happy to discuss things and how they are working out for all parties!
