This is not a typical au pair gig. We are a fun couple with a gorgeous mini Schnauzer, no children and need help with house guests and generally running the house for the summer in southern France. Perfect opportunity for someone studying French, or a French person wanting to improve their English, to experience the life, culture and food of the sunny Languedoc.

We are Isabel and Chris, born in the UK, citizens of the world and have recently moved back to the UK after 7 years in Singapore. We have a summer house in Limoux, in southern France. Our children are all grown up, two with young children of their own. Our "baby" is Lola, a black and silver miniature Schnauzer, who has the sweetest disposition and a great sense of fun. Isabel fell in love with all things French when she was 12 and the love affair has continued, through a degree in French and a year in Nantes as a French Assistant, to our long French summers of today.

We seek someone who is capable, flexible, independent and sociable, who will enjoy being part of our lives during the course of summer in Southern France. Ideally, you will be studying French and keen to learn more about the language and the culture. Isabel speaks fluent French and is happy to give lessons to a willing student! She also loves to cook and previous au pairs have joined in enthusiastically.

You will have your own room with an adjacent bathroom, part of our large house. We entertain frequently in France and often have friends and family to stay during the course of the summer. You will have occasional use of a car.

If you are looking for the bright lights of a big city, this is not the job for you, but Limoux is a charming town with lots going on in the summer, including markets and musical events. We recognise that we are a slightly unusual au pair assignment, but our previous au pairs are very happy to talk to you if you are interested in this role, and will tell you all about what it was like to summer with us.
