Au Pair Visa Requirements for Australia

Australia does not have an official Au Pair programme. Therefore, in order to work in Australia as an au pair there is the Working Holiday Program which allows a person aged 18-30 to go to Australia and work for 12 months on a working holiday visa.

In order to go to Australia under the Working Holiday Program, an au pair must be a national of one of the following countries:

• United Kingdom
• Belgium
• Canada
• The Republic of Cyprus
• Denmark
• Finland
• France
• Germany
• Hong Kong
• The Republic of Ireland
• Italy
• Japan
• The Republic of Korea
• Malta
• The Netherlands
• Norway
• Sweden
• Taiwan

Nationals of New Zealand do not need a work permit to work in Australia. US citizens can apply for a "416" visa through BUNAC that will allow them to work in Australia for four months.
